Peter has been a photographer his whole life. In 2006, he gave up his previous career in software design and decided to dedicate himself to photography. With the advances in digital photography catching up to classic film photography, Peter decided to concentrate on digital, but still shoots 35 and medium format film. In his opinion, the digital darkroom performs at least as well as the chemical darkroom, but without the exposure to chemicals. Peter studied the digital darkroom (Adobe Photoshop) at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). “The use of a powerful tool such as Photoshop calls for restraint by the user; you can easily overdo a picture and lose the essence of the captured image”, he said. Peter started his career as a landscape photographer. Lately he has branched out into travel and portrait photography. For his company, Medowin,Inc., Peter creates product photography for posters, brochures, business cards and other marketing materials, including web sites. He has produced a series of images of the Machias Bay Petroglyphs and their natural surroundings. This series was exhibited September 2007 at the University of Maine Gallery. Peter’s nature photography has been exhibited throughout New England. Since 2008, Peter has his home and studio in Mokuleia, Hawaii. His most recent work has been Hawaiian landscapes and scenes. |
